What are the objectives of the L.U.C.A.S. Foundation?

The L.U.C.A.S. Foundation has three major objectives:

  • To provide life management counseling and other support services to assist children with Down Syndrome who are six years of age and older.

  • To provide support and encouragement to children with Down Syndrome who are six years of age and older and their parents by offering programs in development and integration into the community.

  • To provide physical management, education and social integration programs for children with Down Syndrome who are six years of age and older and who are not receiving any publicly funded services.
Doesn’t the government currently assist Down Syndrome children?

Yes and No. Down Syndrome does NOT go away when a child reaches six (6) years of age but unfortunately the majority of government support services and funding DO!

The L.U.C.A.S. Foundation strongly believes that no child should be denied these vital services because they have reached the age of six and therefore helps ease the transition by providing children with Down Syndrome and their families the programs and funding required to continue to help adapt and integrate into society.
